Boeing Begins Building New 777-8 Freighter Jet

The Seattle Times reports that Boeing has initiated production of its 777-8 freighter which serves as the foundation for their future long-haul aircraft fleet.

The White House event in 2022 introduced the jet which now stands as the most efficient and environmentally friendly freighter within Boeing’s 777X family because it can transport more than 112 tons. The launch customer Qatar Airways purchased 34 aircraft with additional options for 16 more planes which could reach $20 billion in total value.

The report indicates that Boeing faced production delays which extended the initial 2027 delivery target to 2028. The aircraft delivers reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions which appeal to freight operators under new climate regulations.

The freighter market continues to be a success for Boeing despite ongoing certification problems and quality control issues affecting other commercial aircraft.

The company has not provided any immediate response regarding this production achievement.

The 777-8 freighter stands as Boeing’s key product to regain widebody market dominance against Airbus A350 freighter while air cargo demand recovers worldwide and e-commerce drives sustained growth.
