The UK competition authority allowed Omnicom to acquire Interpublic through an all-stock deal worth $13.25 billion without conducting a thorough assessment thus clearing the path for the world’s largest advertising group. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission approved the deal in June with a requirement for the merged company to prevent political content-driven ad spending decisions. Omnicom and Interpublic have not provided any statements regarding the UK approval.
The Competition and Markets Authority started its investigation in June to evaluate UK advertising market effects but determined no further review was necessary.
