Victoria’s Secret US Website Taken Offline Amid Security Breach

Victoria’s Secret disabled its U.S. website and stopped online customer service after a cybersecurity incident occurred according to a company announcement on Wednesday.

The lingerie retailer displayed a security issue notification to customers instead of its e-commerce platform before shutting down operations as a precaution. The company did not reveal details about the security breach but confirmed that Victoria’s Secret and PINK physical stores continue to operate normally.

The company statement expressed gratitude to customers for their patience as the team works day and night to restore full operations. The company addressed the incident through Instagram and established a FAQ section on its corporate website.

The company stated that all orders made before Monday will continue to process for shipment. After shipment dispatch customers will receive email confirmations containing tracking numbers.

The company wants to reassure customers so it has decided to extend the redemption period for in-store coupons and promotional mailers until Sunday. The company has not specified when earned rewards will expire but customers can expect their expiration dates to be extended.

The return policy for online purchases remains unavailable in stores until normal operations start but customers will get an additional 30 days to return their items after the system returns to normal.

The company operates more than 1,350 stores across 70 countries but has not specified when its digital storefront will become available again. Major retailers that rely on e-commerce for revenue and customer engagement face increasing cybersecurity risks according to this incident.

Victoria’s Secret continues to investigate while prioritizing the restoration of secure services and customer service continuity.
